In 2006, a new concept was born when a crack team of radio presenters decided there wasn’t enough choice. They promptly escaped from the shackles of FM radio and onto the Worldwide Web. Today they are one of the biggest internet radio networks in the world. Now they’re taking their fight to the streets. So if you want better listening choice and if you want to win loads of prizes, maybe you can find the play team!

Plymouth

12th 2008 - PLYMOUTH

On Thursday 12th June The Play Team descended on Plymouth city centre. Being the former place of residence for Peter “Bo Duke” Perfect, it was to be an emotional occasion. During the long journey down to Plymouth from Play Radio HQ with Sausages at the wheel, The Play Team passed the time with the usual games and met a number of interesting fellow road users! This week Penelope enjoyed the delights of some lovely Earl Grey in the back seat of the Play Mobile.

On arrival at Drake Circus Shopping Centre in Plymouth, the team was very impressed by the beautiful new mall. Throughout the day we met a number of real characters including the most smartly dressed gardener in the world…..its official! A rather confused but very elegant lady offered Bo a hug in the hope that he would reward her with £1000! Sorry, my dear, not this time! The team managed to tune-in some local businesses to the soothing sounds of Lee Moulsdale and introduced many shoppers to the offerings of the Play Radio network.

With a mouthful of Spicy Italian, Sausages’ lunch was rudely interrupted by legendary Play Radio presenter Steve Phillips. Sausages performed a live radio link into Steve’s show from the beautiful Plymouth Hoe. Bo took it upon himself to assume the role of some sort of Plymouth tour guide, much to the annoyance of Penelope and Sausages. Some of the highlights of his tour were the hair salon that he frequented to tame his wild golden locks, a car park were he was set upon by some ruffians, the night club where he was known for throwing some crazy shapes and the 10 metre diving platform from which he back-flipped into local folklore.

One or two interesting discoveries were made about the team during the day including Sausages’ skills as a getaway driver and awkward experience with a certain South African gentleman, the holes in Bo’s forearms and his history of violence, and Penelope’s love of kissing teeth and flowery summer dresses!

Next stop......Maidstone! See you there!
